Jesus made two remarkable statements:
- First, he claimed to be eternal and to have existed before Abraham!
- More importantly, Jesus called himself by the ancient title ascribed only to God Himself, “I AM.”
Jesus reveals His name “I AM” so we might personally know Him.
Jesus reveals His name “I AM” as the answer to every insecurity in our lives.

Ephesians 3:20-21
The “I AM” statements of Jesus demand “AM I?” statements from me.
- Am I dependent on his bread of life?
- Am I bringing his light into a dark world?
- Am I counting on his protection as the gate and door?
- Am I an obedient sheep that follows my Good Shepherd’s voice?
- Am I living like there is a resurrection?
- Am I convinced that he is the only way, truth and life?
- Am I striving to abide in the vine?
